Artist Profile

Jordan has been writing music since almost before he was able to speak. At a very early age he showed signs of promise with his impressive virtuosity on a variety of instruments including the recorder, the xylophone, the Jaw harp and the accordion. Yet like many other young children he was more interested in playing sports than music, and it was only at the encouragement of a composer-neighbour that Jordan began to immerse himself seriously within the musical foray.

Quickly he grew tired of the limited range of his childhood instruments and – at the encouragement of a Slovenian stepsibling – picked up the Zither, a 45-stringed instrument played with two hammers. Frustrated at the narrow scope of zither music in the idiom of Western pop music, Jordan transferred his skills to the guitar, which he was able to pick up rather quickly because of his previous musical experience. This momentous decision paved a clear path for his creative journey as he formed the rock group Void In Version, which toured across Canada 3 times and opened for Alanis Morissette on her 2005 Diamond Wink tour.

Sadly the band broke up in early 2006 after numerous technical and social complications, coming to a heightened pitch with the kidnapping of their drummer. Devastated by the breakup of his band and the disappearance of his longtime friend, Jordan left Canada on an emotional pilgrimage to Romania. He spent nearly a year there and after growing tired of sending daily travel-emails, he began his first blog. It was at this point that Jordan discovered the second passion of his life: writing.

Upon returning to Canada he began to do freelance journalism for several publications, and quickly self-published a collection of short stories and poetry called Only The Toucan Knows. Since then, Jordan has decided to pursue journalism as a career, and has even contributed occasionally to FutuRéale. He presently is a political correspondent for the Sugar Mob where he has spent the last month covering the American election. Additionally, he recently began a new musical project with long time collaborator and Toronto-area musician Myles Wagman. The project is a harmony-heavy acoustic duo called On-A-Rope® Enterprises, and the pair is slated to release their first studio EP at the end of the winter. Keep your eyes peeled, because they’ll be coming your way this spring with the start of their Golden Horseshoe Tour.
