Artist Profile
Kasim began writing songs and singing at the tender age of sixteen. At the start of his adventures into music he knew very little of what he intended do or how we was going to acheive it. He simply had a passionate desire to create music. But it was this uncertainty which led him to interesting discoveries on his musical journey. Kasim began writing songs while in highschool and quickly began performing around Toronto and getting his voice heard all over the city. From pop gigs to operas, Kasim has explored various styles of music and dabbled within his creative passions to the discovery of a unique stylistic aesthetic which is ever evolving. A French born Canadian of Pakistani descent, Kasim has studied guitar with Juno Award-winner Adam Solomon and Canada's pre-eminent flamenco guitar master Roger Scannura. "Good melodies, played well and the feeling that a perfectionist was at work here. Finely crafted and executed music. The music is both artistic and commercial, and that's not easy to achieve" – Roger Scannura (York University) '07 Kasim has collaborated with many different musicians from all walks of life. Over the past decade Kasim has been creating art, writing songs both vocal and instrumental in nature. He has worked on scoring for film projects and collaborated with various different musicians from hip hop to Classical and Flamenco. So as you can see this is a musician who does not deviate from abnormality but embraces it. The music is a statement of cultural diversity and a desire to communicate with people trough his songs. |
