Sway is a multi-talented host, musician and journalist. He has that star-powered charisma, often described as 'it', and remains a distinct personality among the generation of new multi-talent, multi-media personalities.
As well as fronting Toronto band Morning Electric and founding the children's music program Outside The Box, which is supported by Feist and was recently featured by the National Post, Sway presents Sympatico/MSN's online music show 'The Hook'.
On a regular basis Sway interviews large-profile musicians such as The Killers, Oasis, Feist, Fall Out Boy and John Mayer. Each episode sees Sway chatting with some of today's top musicians to informally chat about their music, songs and lifestyles. As a musician himself, Sway brings a perspective to the interviews which the artists find fresh and relaxing.
As an artist, Sway has crossed genres from rap to rock, and it shows in his everyday swagger. He grew up listening to early hip-hop, mo-town, and reggae. He started a rap group in his teens and has always felt a great affinity for musical development and expression.
In response to recent cuts in government art's funding, Sway founded Outside The Box, a free music program aimed at providing children with an opportunity to learn music and engage in social activity. The need for a free social program was obvious and the relief that it provided parents in addition to the exciting learning process provided for the kids has become a reality. Sway continues to see bigger things for Outside The Box and is currently building opportunities that may allow this program to be offered nationally in 2010.
