 Rachael Yamagata ELEPHANTS...TEETH SINKING INTO HEART By:Shawn Shapiro For those out there who did not catch Rachael Yamagata’s debut release and EP about three years ago, this time around her second album (a single record in two parts) ELEPHANTS...TEETH SINKING INTO HEART should not be missed. It is a very consistent concoction of both jazz infused lyrics and sound with a rock vibe. The first disc (ELEPHANTS) is a darker piece with tracks such as the title song and LITTLE LIFE that shake you up and grab you into the music. The highlight of disc 1 is 100% BROWN EYES, a calm and serene piece that meshes nature with a soft raspy jazz feel. Disc 1 is the darker and bleaker of the set. TEETH SINKING INTO HEART is a much happier, and more rock infused disc. The first track SIDEDISH FRIEND starts the second disc off with a bang. It is full of life and hard hitting lyrics. PAUSE THE TRAGIC ENDING is the song that will capture your attention though. This song is what best shows us who Yamagata is! In her second CD ELEPHANTS...TEETH SINKING INTO HEART, we see what Rachael Yamagata is made of as an artist.
