30 DATES
By Deepi Harish

"Set against a backdrop of humour and satire, 30 Dates is the honest portrayal of the anxiety and angst experienced by most 30 something single unmarried women. With its stellar cast and edgy dialogue, the show delivers guaranteed laughs and great entertainment"
- Syerah Virani, Editor-in-chief & CEO, MyBindi.com

"30 Dates journeys the life of a 30 something woman who fears the feverish ticking of her biological clock. Playwright and main lead, Fenulla Jiwani captures today's dating climate with great precision and the adjunctive cast made for a riotous time that begs a sequel. Everyone whether they're dating or not should go and see 30 Dates as they'd be in for a hilariously entertaining ride!"
- Raj Girn, Founder/Publisher, ANOKHI Magazine

"Great script, great cast and crew, great performance.....what more could one ask for!! In an honest, open and humorous way, this sweet production talks about the age-old issue of dating and marriage and what can happen when family pressure, a ticking biological clock, and modern technology all collide at the same time, and bring together one 30ish young woman and 30 odd dates!!! Great fun.....I loved it!!"
- Teri Boyack, Agent - Hines Management

"‘30 Dates’ is a wonderful theatrical journey for the single south Asian gal who is trying hard to find her forever springtime love ……...but a love that will last a lifetime."
- Monica Dogra, Entertainment Reporter, Omni News

Having 8 consecutive sold out shows in Toronto, I decided to buy into all the hype and make my way to the distillery district to catch ‘30 DATES’ theoretical production on a lovely Saturday afternoon, with my posse of two.

The theatre (the Dancemakers Centre) was rather tiny and tight however the stage was of a decent size, so I wasn’t too worried of actors and actresses toppling into my space. Written by Fenulla Jiwani who also happens to be the leading lady of the drama, she marveled the crowd with her sarcasm, whit and common sense approach to the unwholesome dating game.

30 dates is a borderline comical stage show which caters more so to East Indian woman whom are on a desperate hunt to find their perfect Bollywood hunky, marriage material man.

Desperate times calls for desperate measures is the case for the character of Priti who is being pressured by her typical Indian parents to get hitched because the young age of 35 is following her around like an pestering shadow. One after another, her quest for finding her ‘true love’ turns into a plague of coming in contact with undesirable men. Yet, she remains optimistic although her biological clock which is ticking away plants pessimism in her head.

‘30 Dates’ has its moments; however the reviews hyperbolize the overall excitement of the show. All in all, this play was delightful, genuine and modest.

Featuring: Garbriel Grey, Fenulla Jiwani, Shafik Kamani, Husein Madhavji, Danya Nearon, Patrick Whalen & Richard Young.
